“Believe you can! Pray you will!
And work your ass off until you see it come to pass and then work harder!!”

– Tyler Perry

Don’t sleep on the power of a dream.

You know, those vivid, audacious, live and in-living-color dreams, the kind that won’t let you rest. Dreams that shake you out of your slumber, linger long enough for you to take note, and then shapeshift into your own North Star.

Tyler Perry has always been a dreamer. A true believer. Indeed, the motto of his 330-acre film production studio is “A Place Where Even Dreams Believe.” He is, as the old saying goes, the embodiment of his ancestors’ wildest dreams. As such, the famously hardworking writer / director / actor / entrepreneur honors those who came before him by sharing the wealth. So it’s fitting that in this, Tyler’s 20th year in Hollywood, he’s launching an official program aimed to educate and uplift aspiring directors.

Introducing the Tyler Perry Studios Dream Collective.

The Tyler Perry Studios Dream Collective is designed to identify, cultivate, and elevate the next wave of dynamic filmmakers, with an eye on historically underrepresented, underrecognized voices.

Our three-tiered initiative brings together new and emerging directorial voices and seasoned professionals in film and television, placing emphasis on practical training, mentorship and career sustainability.

Five filmmakers will receive funding of $30,000 to shoot a short film in greater Atlanta, Georgia.

We are looking for singular storytellers ready to do the work.

“…there are people whose lives are tied into your dream.  Stop fighting for a seat at the table and build your own.”
